Eerde International Boarding School and the Rijksmuseum have extended their collaboration for a further three years. This marks the beginning of the third term of a fruitful partnership devoted to developing education in the arts and culture for international schools. Teachers and museum educators from the two institutions have been working together since 2017, creating an educational programme that complements the arts and culture curriculum for international schools, enabling students from all over the world to become acquainted with the art and history of the Netherlands. The upcoming academic year will see the addition to this educational programme of a new history tour for secondary school students.

As an international school we are very proud to be the official partner of the Rijksmuseum . Our partnership and the extracurricular activities it will enable us to offer are unique and a perfect complement to our existing curriculum.

Niki Holterman, Director of Eerde International Boarding School

We are delighted to be able to continue our long-standing partnership. Working with Eerde International Boarding School will mean we can make our offer of international education even better. This is a splendid way to enable students from all over the world to enjoy the art of the Rijksmuseum and the history of the Netherlands.

Taco Dibbits, Director of the Rijksmuseum

Guided tour and knowledge exchange

The new agreement focuses on the development and launch of a new guided tour for English-speaking secondary school students studying history. We will also be joining forces to strengthen the network of international schools by holding meetings at the Rijksmuseum, where teachers will be able to exchange knowledge and familiarise themeselves with all other aspects of the educational programme. We will also be offering students short internships at the Rijksmuseum’s Public & Education department.

About Eerde International Boarding School

Eerde International Boarding School is the oldest international school in the Netherlands, and the only one with boarding facilities. Young people aged 4 to 18 of all nationalities have been welcomed here since 1934 to follow a personally mentored Cambridge or IB curriculum. Eerde International Boarding School strives to shape its students into world citizens with a set of high standards and values.

About the Rijksmuseum

The Rijksmuseum tells the 800-year history of the Netherlands, from the Middle Ages to today. We also mount several exhibitions each year, of objects drawn from our own collection and loaned from domestic and international collections. As a national museum for art and history, it is our responsibility to be a museum where everyone feels represented; a museum that contributes to awareness and interconnection in society; a place that does justice to the full range of stories that can be told through the artworks and historical objects in its collection. The Rijksmuseum draws strength from diversity, polyphony and collaboration, and strives to activate these qualities.

Vital support

The Rijksmuseum collection exists in its current form thanks in large part to donations by private individuals, legacies, government funding, contributions from the business community and funds, and Friends. As well as facilitating the acquisition of important objects, financial gifts make it possible for the Rijksmuseum to conduct research, hold outstanding exhibitions and develop educational programmes. The Rijksmuseum is grateful for all the forms of support that it receives.
