Baker McKenzie supports the Rijksmuseum’s purchases of 20th-century photography, with a focus on retrospective art photography.

Support from Baker McKenzie has helped fund the Rijksmuseum’s acquisition of photographs from the late 19th century to 1980. As the defining art form of the 20th century, the rise of photography parallels that of the modern era of speed, travel, global politics and mass media. The collection has a notable emphasis on American photography, with photographic works by Lewis Hine, Robert Frank, Helen Levitt, László Moholy-Nagy, Lartigue, Brassaï, Bill Brandt, Robert Capa, Eva Besnÿo and Man Ray. These photographers helped shape the image of a new age. Thanks to purchases made with Baker McKenzie’s support, the Rijksmuseum can present an outstanding overview of developments in international photography.
