In the 1920s, Gispen devoted a great deal of attention to improving the lighting technique of electric lamps. Specially developed GISO glass gave diffuse light, which in this lamp is cast against the dish-shaped reflector. The lamp’s aesthetic quality was equally important. The unvarnished material and pure geometric forms embody a modern yet timeless beauty.
